AppFlower - the Application Builder

Christmas has arrived, and what is Christmas without a few small surprises under the tree? Last year we announced our decision to make appFlower open-source - and just a few months ago we released Studio. Studio made building applications with appFlower much easier with our visual interface; resulting in less code to write and less syntax to memorize. So what's up this time? We came up with a few new features. If you already like appFlower, you will love these new additions. Here is what came out of our Christmas spirit. :-)

Faster to build Widgets

Thanks to Studio, building new widgets has always been a snap. And now it just got even easier and faster to build multiple widgets. You can just click on our new "Create Widget" button directly from the model view, and you can instantly create multiple widget types for the model you just created. In seconds you can have your list, edit and show widget pre-build.

Enhanced Widget Automation

The newly created widgets you just built automatically start with a few extra features. Your forms will have input validation and the proper field types based on your model definition. The same is true for lists, which automatically have multi-page filters (searching) and sorting set.

New Theme Editors

The Theme Designer has been greatly improved. It is now easier to create your desktop menu and shortcuts. With the new menu and shortcut editors you can custom design your user interface, without needing to know Sencha (Javascript). A Background editor was added so that with a few clicks you can change the background color or set the defaults.

Improved Usability

We want you to have the best experience ever when you use appFlower, so we have paid particular attention to the small details. We know you want to navigate through the system quickly, without a big learning curve, so we added a few shortcuts here and there, and improved the user interface in general, to provide what you need right at your finger tips. Major usability improvements have been added to the Layout Designer and Widget Designer, including a number of bug-fixes.

Master-Detail View

We introduced an awesome new feature into layouts called Master-Detail Views. This is particularly useful when you have a list of records, which you want to quickly navigate through, see details, and update records. List entries can be associated with a form in the same layout, so by clicking on one entry in the list, the same data appears in the next form.

Cross Platform

We realize that there are a number of you who would like to use appFlower on Windows, so we have decoupled a few dependencies to make it cross-platform compatible. Now appFlower works on Linux, MacOSX and MS Windows.
